New Feature: Pick-up Soccer Listing

You may have noticed the new link just under the PWT-blog's title bar called Pick-up Soccer Listing.  There you'll find some of the many regular pick-up games that go on all over the Tennessee Valley.
Action from the Lunchtime Soccer Pick-up Game
Right now I have listed one game each from Decatur, Huntsville and Madison.  If you know of a game, drop me a comment or send me an email with the details (when, where, skill level, and other special info) and I'll add them to the list.

Huntsville Women's Soccer Picking Up Steam

Ladies, lace up your boots.  There has been a groundswell of interest in organizing women's soccer in Huntsville over the past year or so.   Now, you have a place of your own to play.

Directions to Kiwanis Soccer Field from I-565:  Exit on to Jordan Lane (Exit # 17A). Take a right on Jordan Lane, Take a right at the second stop light on to Bob Wallace Avenue. Turn left at the first drive. There is a sign for the Botanical Gardens "Mulch Pile". Follow the drive up and to the left for the field.

Starting next week (September 9th) there will be a weekly women's pick-up game open to adult ladies at the Kiwanis Soccer Field on the corner of Bob Wallace and Jordan Lane from 6 to 8PM.  The hope is that enough interest will be generated to start a Women's league next spring.

Let's Do Lunch

I’ve been playing pick up soccer 5 times a week with a great group of guys. The best part is that it’s during my lunch hour. Almost every weekday, no matter the weather, a group of 6 to 20 guys and gals get together to kick it around. We meet on the Intergraph campus near the Fitness Center at around 11:30 AM and play until about 12:40. There a wide range of skill levels, but always a good time. Here are a few vids of yesterday’s game.

First person soccer. Reminds me of the recent Nike commercial.

Nice build up by the boys in white.

Corner kick and goal by yours truly.

Ott cooly finishing.

If you’re interested in joining us, there is a group site set up here, where you can join the email list and respond to the daily poll to indicate if you’re going to play that day.
