RCU Faces PDL's Nashville Metros

Rocket City United will welcome the Nashville Metros to John Hunt Park for a non-league match on Saturday night. Nashville sits in sixth place in the eight team PDL Southeast Division with a 2-7-7 record.


RCU Head Coach Greg Petersen has a successful history with the club from Nashville. In 1997, Petersen led the Metros to the fully professional A-League which was considered the second tier in the US Soccer pyramid. After a guiding them to a 17-11 record, they qualified for the playoffs and made it to the semifinals. In 1998, Petersen and the Metros won the Central Division title with a 20-8 record and also knocked off the Kansas City Wizards of MLS in thier successful US Open Cup run. Petersen moved on when the club ran into financial troubles in 1999.

This week's match will be used as a dress rehearsal for the NPSL Final Four matches the following weekend. Petersen indicated that he will use a first choice selection for much of the match to help keep the sharpness of the players at a high level.
